TAKING ACTION – LOW-COST SOLUTIONS FOR OUR COMPANION ANIMALS
Date of conference: May 28, 2009

Jennifer Tremblay from Miss Doolittle,
Bill Bruce guest speaker , Johanne Tassé caacQ
Dear Sir or Madam,
The caacQ invite you to attend a conference on ways to help you reduce costs and improve your animal control services. There are many innovations in that area; our speaker, Bill Bruce, director of Animal and Bylaw Services for the City of Calgary, Alberta, will share his most recent experiences.
A first in Québec, this conference will be an eye-opener: Mr. Bruce is being asked to present his model all over North America. Mr. Bruce’s priorities were to develop solutions that have an impact on public health and safety. His team’s main goals were to reduce the number of incidents involving aggressive dogs, to enhance the number of lost cats and dogs returned to their owner and to become a euthanasia-free city.
Mr. Bruce thinks cities’ by-laws need to be developed in partnership with communities and animal welfare organization. The puppy mills issue, which struck the media’s interest, elevated animal welfare at the top of the public’s priority list. It is therefore important to act now and to develop cost effective, long lasting solutions.
We thank you for your interest in our cause.

No Kill 2009
Conference on May 2nd & 3rd, 2009
Washington, D.C.

It’s estimated that about 5 million animals are killed in U.S. shelters each year. That’s 5 million too many.
But there are some successful shelter and animal control directors out there who are bringing their shelter euthanasia numbers down – way down. Some are saving more than 90 percent of the animals who come through their doors. And they’ll be joining some of the country’s top animal-law attorneys at a conference in the nation’s capital to show others how they can begin building no-kill communities, too.
The No Kill Advocacy Center is teaming up with the animal law program at George Washington University Law School to present the “No Kill Conference: Bringing Sheltering into the 21st Century,” May 2-3, 2009 in Washington, D.C.

The CAACQ participated at this conference:
