‘Underground railroad’ gives second chance to doomed dogs
December 19, 2011
About twice a month, a van pulls up in front of Toronto Animal Services’ facility at Exhibition Place. Microchips power this pet project
November 5, 2010
Think of them as dog tags for the digital age. An electronic microchip, the size of a grain of rice, can be inserted under the skin of your pet (well, maybe not a budgie or tarantula) as a means of identifying a lost pet that shows up in an animal pound. A scanner picks up a registration number encoded in the chip, and a database identifies the owner.
